Cruze on Over's aka "Daisy's" first show was the Sally B Wheeler Hunter Breed Show, in Lexington Va which is predominantly Warmbloods and Thoroughbreds. She was shown in hand and placed 4th and 5th in two large classes, winning the Quarter Horse division.
Her second show was the 2019 All American Quarter Horse Congress, the largest single breed horse show in the world. She was entered in the Open and Non Pro Hunter lunge line. This was Daisy's second show she had attended. The Congress is a show considered by those in the Quarter Horse industry as the pinnacle show attended by all the top horses and trainers. With over 25,000 entries, acres of horses, trucks, trailers, shopping, and most of all friends getting together from all over the country, and some of the best horses in the country.
Daisy was entered into the Non-Pro Hunter Lunge Line and the Open Hunter Lunge Line, with hopes she would continue her winning. Preparing a horse, yearling, for a lunge line class is a mix of how much/little can you do without hurting your yearling, and how to ensure they are fit to show well. Preparing a yearling for a Congress class is another challenge. At Congress your horse has to be tired but not overly tired, these challenges are successful when you know the horse you are working with.
With this being Daisy's first show to show in a lung line class we were working with her closely to ensure she was prepared to show to her best. Jenn went into the non-pro Hunter Lunge Line class first, this was Daisy's first Lung Line class, She was first to go, Daisy had been prepped and was ready. She showed well, and the two of them were 3rd in a class of 27. The only change we wanted to make when prepping her for the open was having her a little less tired. This runs a line of not behaving, or getting the correct lead, or listening properly and showing the wonderful floaty trot that she has. Kristy Starnes showed Daisy in the Open Hunter Lunge Line, Daisy was less tired, so we were relying on her good manners and wonderful behavior to surpass and allow her to show her naturally floaty movement. She had a couple of bobbles but showed everyone her flawless movement. Daisy was Reserve Congress Champion out of a very strong class of 26.
